Description

15.3 Cleveland bay x standardbred mare 9yo. Up to date with all health care. Sorry, no loans or payment plans.

Honest ad & genuine reason for sale. I’ve only owned her for 7 months & intended on her being my forever horse, but a combination of health issues, lack of facilities & her needing more work than I can give means I can't bring out the best in her.

In previous home, she jumped, did pleasure & beach rides, XC, hunting & horse adventure park with teenage rider. I bought her for hacking & she’s been in light work since. She has huge potential, which is wasted on me and I think she'd thrive with more work and variety. Ideal summer project for someone with facilities who can spend time bringing her on, building her fitness and confidence - would make a great low level allrounder.

Good with farm machinery, traffic, road works, signs etc. Good in open spaces with a gorgeous canter and good brakes.

When settled, she's a chilled ride who could go for miles. She has her own mind and will occasionally test her rider (has been known to throw the odd buck and can be nappy - nothing terrible, she just likes to see what she can get away with). Good in company, but needs encouragement and practice to hack alone or lead. This is something we've been working on and she's really improving. A confident rider with a light hand, time and patience would easily get her going alone as I know she hacked alone in her previous home on the busiest of roads with no bother. I really want to find someone who will take the time to build trust with her and give her more interesting, varied work than I can - I don't have the time or facilities to bring out the best in her. She'd suit a confident teenager who wants to build a bond and have fun.

Good to groom, bath & tack-up. Can pull mare faces & fidget, but nothing more & ties-up really well. Sometimes forgets herself & can be bargy, but consistency sorts this. Good doer. Not seen by the vet other than vaccs/dentistry - good for both. Great for farrier.

Turns-out with mares, geldings or mixed. Always catches first time. Respectful of fencing. Would happily live out 24/7.

Currently stabled at night and during poor weather and is settled and tidy. Was fidgety/stressy in the stable when she first arrived and still has moments of this when anticipating something, but consistency and routine have settled her. She would most likely need time and patience again to feel safe in a new space.

Finding her the best of homes is vitally important as I don't want her passed-on. She only had one home prior to me, so full history is known. She's had no shortage of love in her lifetime and this must continue. I will be asking about your home and experience.

Sold with rugs. Saddle and bridle can be sold separately. No facilities on site. Can hack to a neighbouring school for her to be tried (20 mins away) - no time wasters, so serious enquiries only please. Please be clear she's a project and not a schoolmistress - she needs time and work to bring out her potential, so anyone viewing must be mindful of this.
