Description

Looking to sell my 4 year old (will be 5 in June) registered Highland Pony gelding. Brae of Shanquhar x Bonnie Jean of Craigieloch. He’s bum high at the moment standing at just over 13hh at the wither and 13.3hh at his bum but what he lacks in size he makes up for in personality. I think he should grow a little yet as he’s still a lot of maturing to do and always been a late developer.

Mac is the sweetest little pony but definitely needs an experience owner as he can be opinionated and have his moments as all youngsters do therefore not for a novice.

He comes to call and always greets you with nicker or whinny, will stand all day to be brushed! Loves scratches and attention. Loads and travels but we haven’t done much out and about but with anything he gets better the more consistency he gets. I’ve never had to clip him so can’t comment on how he would be. Would live in or out as he has done both with me. He is happily stabled on his own or with company and has been quite independent and not buddy-sour. Up to date with vaccs/farrier. Very food orientated. He has only ever been out with geldings but he’s pretty laidback so think he would be fine in a mixed herd. I’ve had him since 11 months old and he’s basically a blank canvas. Had tack on and a bit of inhand work done, been out to a couple of shows where he behaved so well. He is quite sensitive with putting the bridle on but again with work and consistency I’m confident this will come right as he improved when I was doing it regularly.

Unfortunately between having a young family and poor health I’ve just not been able to give him the time and commitment that he needs. Been sat on a couple of times in the field. He’s pretty bold and brave, lives in a cow shed so literally cow proof as also had an orphan calf living with him last year. He’s used to farm machinery although I’ve not done any road work with him as we live on a very busy road and I wouldn’t subject an experienced horse to it let alone a baby and give him a bad experience.

He would love someone who would give him the time and attention he deserves. Someone patient but firm as he can be thran and very much looks to you for confidence at times due to his baby-ness. He would thrive in a varied home with hacking and the chance to go and experience the world. He will be your best friend once he gets to know you.

Tried to be as honest as I can as I genuinely never thought I would sell him but my health and time are very much lacking and he deserves so much better.
