Poppy is the ultimate leisure/pleasure all-rounder with a golden temperament. She is as safe as they come and gives everyone confidence that gets the pleasure of riding her. She is a 15.2h 16 (rising 17) year old black registered Friesian mare. She is a real black beauty, her coat gleams in the sun and she is absolutely stunning. She catches the eye where ever she goes and is complimented by everyone as she is very striking. She is gorgeous inside and outside to match and will make someone a horse of a life time for sure. She has clean limbs, is blemish free and straight movement. She’s a very desirable type as she is a great size for everyone to ride from children to teenagers and adults; she would be perfect as a mother/daughter share or family horse for everyone to enjoy. She is a lovely middle weight stamp with a nice amount of bone and depth of girth without being heavy. She really excels as a pleasure horse to take on sponsored rides, happy hacks, horse holidays, beach rides. And best of all she is super safe and very genuine and honest with a quiet gentle temperament.

Poppy is with me to sell on behalf of his owner of 3 years due to a sad change in her personally circumstances, it is a heart breaking sale of her horse in a million and she would very much like to stay in touch. The right home is very important to her as she really does deserve to be loved and pampered. She has never been hammered and has been very well looked after all of her life. She is very youthful for her age as he has never been over exerted and has led quite a low intensity life. So she has many more years to offer someone. She comes with her tack and rugs so she is all set up and ready to go for her new owner.

Poppy is super to hack both alone and in company. This is what she has predominately done with her owner for the last 3 years and it really shows as she is rock solid and relaxing to hack. She is great with traffic and hacks straight out onto a busy through road where traffic goes flying past her. She doesn’t even bat an eye lid as tractors go past her. She is very confident in her own skin so doesn’t need her rider to hold her hand. She is very calm and sensible in open spaces, she will canter in any order within a group without getting strong or competitive; she doesn't mind being over taken. She is on the steady side of medium to ride when out hacking so she gives her rider lots of confidence as she isn’t going to run off with you. She has been on lots of pleasure rides which she really does excel at, she gives other horses confidence as he is such a calm influence. She is so much fun on pleasure rides and always makes you smile and have a good ride. She would be the ideal type to take on horse holidays and enjoy hours of exploring together as she is super comfy too.

Poppy has good basic schooling established with lovely floaty paces. Her paces are very smooth and flowing. She is a steady ride in the school and does need leg from her rider to keep her going. This makes her rider feel very safe and also means that poppy is suitable for nervous/ novice riders as well as more competent riders. She has done some dressage in her previous home but has mainly hacked for the last 3 years, so her schooling needs a little fine tuning to get back to her best. She tends to get the wrong canter strike off on the right rein as she is so used to just cantering in a straight line where it doesn’t matter what lead she is on. She is a real safe steady confidence giver to ride and not the spooky or sharp type. She is snaffle mouthed for everything with a lovely light mouth, she has been ridden in a Pelham, by her current owner but definitely doesn’t need it. She has attended lessons and pole work clinics with her owner which she really enjoys, she is brilliant to ride in new places. She is very forgiving and doesn't mind if her rider loses balance or misses a beat, she will just slow down and let you catch your balance. I have been teaching my novice 9 year old step daughter to canter on Poppy on the lunge, she really looks after her small wobbly rider. She is very child proof and has been ridden by children of all ages as well as adults. She has also been ridden bare back and was foot perfect and very comfortable. She would suit a wide range of riders from competent novices through to more experienced riders that just want a straight forward easy going ride that they can pick up and put down.

Poppy enjoys popping over small show jumps and cross country fences. She makes a lovely shape. She hasn’t done loads of jumping due to her owner’s preferences but has jumped logs out hacking and enjoyed popping over some xc jumps on fun rides. She will happily jump around a small course of show jumps and enjoy herself but she isn’t a world beater and isn’t being sold as a jumper, but as a pleasure horse who will pop a few jumps here and there.

Poppy has a superb quiet temperament; you really wouldn’t find a quieter easier horse. She really is such a nice sweet person who wants to be everyone’s friend and wouldn’t hurt a fly. She is easy to handle and is very polite with manners to burn. She loves to be groomed and pampered and is always a very happy girl who puts a smile on your face. She is such a kind loving girl who is very gentle and calm. She is very good to clip, bath, shoe, load, catch ect. She will live alone or in company and in or out, she just goes with the flow. She is so much more than just a horse, she will be your best friend and part of the family. She would make the perfect leisure/pleasure horse for hours of hacking and fun rides with some bits of riding club thrown in for fun. It is really important to her owner that Poppy finds a 10* home where she will be loved and enjoyed. She has many more years of fun to offer someone and a lot of knowledge and safety to give to his rider, you just can’t get this from a young horse as they are still learning themselves.
