Description

This is candra and Ruby! Candra is a wise old lady (Connemara/cob), Ruby is a registered Dartmoor. They are bonded and MUST stay together. They have been so loved and part of my family for years. It’s heartbreaking to have to find a new loving home, but it’s the right thing to do. Life sometimes throws you choices and when you love something as much as I do these ponies, you have to do what’s right. They have not been ridden since before covid. Candra is a calm, strong, cool and collected mature lady who leads Ruby. She is an excellent jumper and loves it. Ruby needs leading by a confident handler (she’s cheeky!) but is so sweet and loves a fuss from children (my 4 have brushed and plaited and put flowers in her hair and told her their problems for years!). They both live out, eat sugarbeet with chaff and cool mix, haylage or hay and are super easy and not fussy at all. Neither are shod. Both are ridden with bitless harnesses although these broke a while ago so don’t come with the ponies. Candra has previously been ridden English style but with us she was natural style and often bareback. Long hacks over the dunes and gallops along in the shallows is candras life! Ruby was always happy with a little child on her back. She looked so proud! We are right next to the sea so ridden on the beach at Perranporth during the holidays. Helicopters have landed and dogs have chased them but no issues at all. They have brought us so so much. Candra could possibly be ridden again with lots of work and patience but would need her back and hips checking first I would strongly suggest. Both had their teeth checked recently are are in great condition. Neither have ever been laminitic. Candra loads well, Ruby needs a small sedative but has loaded before with a little help from a good handler! This really is the hardest decision I’ve ever made. They must go to a forever home and stay together. If candra cannot be ridden then that’s the way it must be. They listen to all your problems, have that beautiful grass smell horses have and are the most incredible souls to be around. I would like to keep in touch with whoever takes them on. Please think carefully before contacting me. You’d need a good care and life plan for them, evidence you can cover vet fees and make a plan for when their time to go to horse heaven comes. They don’t need hours of daily care, I’ve often checked haylage over the fence while chewing my own breakfast running out to work. But they do need so much love. Contact me to discuss further.
